The Bands You Need To Know For Firefly

by Festival June 16, 2014

Getting ready to camp out with all your friends in Dover, Delaware? This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! There are two days left until Firefly Music festival is finally here!! Here are some bands you need to know if you’re attending Firefly!   If you’ve done your research, you’ll know there’s a bunch of amazing artists coming to the festival this year. Obviously there are the killer big names like Foo Fighters, Outkast, and Jack Johnson. But even the “Smaller” named bands performing have a lot to offer!

Broken Bells :  This is one band that’s really got it’s own sound all together. It’s self-titled album Broken Bells is full of upbeat indie-rock fun for everyone!

Check out their song the high road, a personal fave of mine:

The High Road

Childish Gambino: I’ve loved Donald Glover since he was just a stand-up comedian and breaking out in Community. Donald Glover took the stage name Childish Gambino after messing around on an online rap name generator and deciding he liked the sound of it!  Ever since then he’s been beastin’ on tracks with sick lyrics and awesome beats

Another Favorite Coming from Childish Gambino:

Heartbeat

G-Eazy : This rapper is super fun and light-hearted in his raps. He often raps with other up and coming artists like Hoodie Allen. He’s somebody you definitely wanna look out for in the next few years because he’s about to get big.

Geazy

My Favorite song of his:

Make-Up Sex

Great Big World: made popular by the song “Say Something”. You know, the one where they sing “Say something I’m giving up on you”. Though that song is pretty good, don’t pigeonhole this band into that one song. They’re actually fun, creative and have songs unlike a lot of other popular bands currently. If you have time, totally check em out at Firefly! rratbigworld

One of my Faves:  (Also this music video is super cute so heads-up):

Already Home

These are just some of the less known bands playing at Firefly in two days, if you loved what you heard and want a complete playlist to get you psyched for this years festival, have no fear! Festival Gear has created an extensive playlist of this year’s performing bands so you don’t have to! Check it out and get ready to have the time of your life!
